September Newsletter

Something incredible has begun in September: we have had a chance to experience a taste of what life on the mission field will be like. It will be together, and that is something we aren’t taking for granted. Getting to share our stories and how God has called us into this ministry has given us an anticipation for all that the Lord will do.

We are reminded of how the Lord has called us from darkness into light. But, now God is calling us to go back into the darkness in order to share the Good News of Jesus. In getting to partner together in ministry, we are grateful for those God has compelled to already help us in the Lord’s mission: to seek and save the lost. We have gotten to pray over our some of our partners, and our kids have gotten to send them pictures and cards!

We called our team director, Bryan, to ask what has been happening on campus these last few weeks. He said that during these weeks, it’s been exciting to see how the Lord has been providing opportunity to have conversations with students. Here’s an encouraging story he shared with us:

One Bible Study had an idea to do Pancakes at Midnight outside a dorm. During the event, a student named Jerry stopped by. Jerry is an international student from Shanghai, but had the opportunity to study high school in the United States. He had heard a lot about Christianity, but when he stopped by the table, he started talking with a Cru member, Will. Will and Jerry ended up talking until 2 am! Jerry asked a lot of questions about Christianity and what it means to be a Christian. He started coming to Will’s Bible study every week since. He is able to hear the gospel regularly, and we are praying he will come to confess faith in Jesus! This was the first time there was an event like this and they were able to serve 200 students pancakes!

Our prayer and praise:

  • Trust in God’s provision for us, both financially and relationally
  • Unity, gentleness, and peace for our family as we navigate changes, especially in homeschooling
  • Energy and endurance to run the race set before us with joy and contentment
  • For the team at Virginia Tech: for Jerry, and others like him, who are asking questions and are new to confessing Jesus

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
